Stokesley Osteopaths

FAQs Osteopathy

We have put together a number of common questions relating to osteopathy, however if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to arrange an appointment or contact us to discuss your circumstances.

What can I expect on my first visit to an osteopath?

Your first visit will start with a consultation which allows your practitioner to understand about you, your medical history and any lifestyle behaviours which could affect any treatments and conditions.

How long do osteopathic appointments usually last?

Regular appointments last 30 minutes.

Can I have a treatment if I'm pregnant?

Yes however it is important your Osteopath knows you are pregnant so they can use the appropriate techniques for your condition.

Do you do home visits?

Yes we provide home visits to patients, please call 01642 714040 for more information.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you need depends on the condition and person we are treating. We aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. Your osteopath will be able to tell you within a short period of time whether they can treat you or if they need to refer you to your GP for further investigations.

Who can be treated?

Anyone can be treated although it is important that your osteopath knows about any conditions that you have. If you are pregnant you can also be treated but again it is important your osteopath is aware of this.

Can I have treatments even if I feel 'OK'?

The simple answer is "Yes", osteopathy is about maintaining balance, and we have patients who have regular treatments to help maintain their healthy bodies. Prevention is always better than cure!

Are you regulated?

Yes, Andrew Cross, Stokesley Osteopaths, are members of the General Osteopathic Council which regulates the practice of osteopathy in the United Kingdom. By law osteopaths must be registered with GOsC in order to practise in the UK.
